Jean Mader

Jean Mader, age 81, of Montgomery, passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at her home in New Prague. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 25 from 9am-11am at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery with a memorial service with Fr. George Grafsky, officiating. Interment will be held in Calvary Cemetery in Montgomery in the spring.

Jean was born on January 12, 1942 on the family farm in Le Sueur County to Thomas and Estelline (Kukacka) Kotek). She attended Montgomery Schools. Jean was united in marriage to George Joseph Mader, Jr. on October 29, 1960 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery. She worked in housekeeping at Mala Strana Health Care Center. She enjoyed baking, cooking, shopping, and socializing.

Jean is survived by her husband, George; children, Michelle (Dan) Weiers of New Prague, Sandy (Dale) Johnston of Montgomery, Sheila (Tim) Janovsky of Montgomery, and Todd (Theresa) Mader of New Prague; grandchildren, Eric (Jillian) Weiers and Justin Weiers, Jenny Johnston, Nick (Shannon) Johnston, Allie (Jason) Gangloff, Elizabeth Johnston, Jason (Melissa) Janovsky, Michael (Allie) Janovsky, Jacob Mader (special friend, Hailey), Anthony Mader (special friend Avery), and Joshua Mader; great-grandchildren, Joe, Trent, Travis, Trevor, Luke, Lillian, Robert, Sophia, Mackenzie, and Jackson; siblings, Ernie Kotek of Montgomery, Darlene (Donald) Dietz of Montgomery, Larry (Julie) Kotel of AZ, Doreen (Larry) Kuchinka of Montgomery, and Rosie Viskocil of Montgomery; sister-in-law, Donna Kotek.

Jean is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Glen Kotek; brother-in-law, Al Viskocil; sister-in-law, Mary Kotek.
