James William Scheffert, age 89 of Le Center passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at Mayo Clinic, New Prague, MN. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 from 8:00 am to 11:00 am with the funeral service at 11:00 am, all at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Le Center with Pastor Jan Crissinger officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. Military Honors provided by the Le Center Area Veterans Honor Guard.

Jim was born on December 29, 1933 in Lexington Township/Le Center to Clayton and Irene (Boettcher) Scheffert. He was a graduate of McKinley High School in Le Center. He served in the U.S. Army from December 8, 1953 to December 7, 1955. He was united in marriage to Myrna Anderson on November 14, 1957 in St. Peter and enjoyed 65 years of marriage.

Jim enjoyed a career in law enforcement and served as a police officer in the City of Le Center for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and socializing. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in St. Peter. His family was very important to him. Jim will always be known for and remembered as a fair and honest person.

Jim is survived by his wife, Myrna; children, Sue (Larry) Schmidt of Le Center, Sandra (Tim) Miller of Le Center, Vicky Factor (Dennis Miller) of Cleveland and James Scheffert, Jr. of Le Center; siblings, Judy VanHaften of Prior Lake, Sharon Traxler of California, Kathleen Deno of Texas; 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Joel, and Keith; sister, Pat Rheaume.
